Sister Pat's Memory :
You'll remember this. Daddy would take the cardboard tube from an expended roll of wrapping paper (probably at Christmas), and blow forcefully into one end. He, and we, enjoyed the loud noise he produced; as much fun as blowing across a wide piece of grass, edge to edge. (You should try both at your first opportunity to relieve a little testing stress.) Daddy may have tightened his lips in a line while blowing, as in his trumpet-playing days. Anyway he had fun. Guess I'll have to send this reminder to your little sister as a reminder for her memory blog. Glad somebody has time for that. Some day we can all look at her blog together and discuss how our memories agree or differ.
P.S. Don has chimed in. He remembers the blowing. Maybe Daddy did not start that until after we'd all moved away from home, and maybe it was just coincidence that Don and I heard him do it. Anyway, I just tried it with a roll from paper towels an it worked great. Remember to squeeze lips as a trumpet player does.

I love those! I also made instruments out of empty soda bottles.
